# How billing works

Billing is prepaid and transparent. You fund a balance, and each request draws down official spend minus your discount, with a full breakdown you can audit.

## Prepaid balance

You top up any whole-dollar amount. Balance never expires and there is no subscription, so idle time costs nothing.

## Per-request metering

- Each call is converted to official Anthropic spend by token.
- Your active discount (60% up to 80% for B2C) is subtracted.
- The net amount is deducted from your prepaid balance.

## Full visibility

Every request appears in your dashboard with input, output, cache and thinking tokens, so you always know where your balance goes.
